Democracy Day: Ogungbangbe on President Tinubu, NASS, Judiciary, Security, MKO Abiola, Press, and National Greatness
By ISAAC OLUSESI
Dr Thomas Olaleye Ogungbangbe has attributed the prevailing stability and progress to the existing mutual relationships between the nation's executive arm of government and National Assembly (NASS), flagged up by harmony and useful discretion in the application of power, within shared responsibilities. This, he said, is predicted on the continued sensitivity to popular feelings, drawing sufficient lessons from the sociology of the past governance in Nigeria.
Ogungbangbe, the All Progressive Congress (APC) chieftain and Senate aspirant from Osun East Senatorial District of the state stated this, in the wee hours of today, on the occasion of the year's Democracy Day, saying, "I am proud to see public confidence and trust inputted in the nation's President Bola Ahmed Tinubu whose exemplary leadership permits basic freedom and equality, transparency and accountability, inclusivity and tranquility in national affairs."
He urged his APC government to complete the process of indemnity of the annulment of the June 12 election of the president-elect MKO Abiola, even as he lauded the recognition accorded the June 12 struggle by the government, with the declaration of the day as Democracy Day.
Continuing, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of CITA ENERGIES said, "I am also proud of seeing the judiciary, security agency, other para-security apparatuses, continually maintain equipoise, balance, or equilibrium that enhances the rule of law, fundamental human rights, and social cohesion."
The scion of the Ajagbusi Ekun Owaloko Royal Dynasty of Iloko-Ijesa in Oriade local government council area of the state cautioned the governed against competing claims to individuality and diversity that play different variations on old themes, due to misplaced enthusiasm.
Prince Ogungbangbe added that "the operations of individuals and groups should stir clear of any disposition, detrimental to national interests as the nation is making resounding achievements." He posited, he has never doubted the ability of Mr President to continue to deliver like an Oak Tree in the wilderness of cynics, skeptics and pessimists.
*OGUNGBANGBE FOR SENATE'27* eulogized Nigerian Press' consistent exhibition of dynamism and excellence, not having itself send the wrong signal to the polity, and neither takes side on any seemingly contentious issues or disquieting situation between government and organized labour.
Hear Ogungbangbe: "Our Press has engendered respect and honour to its agenda setting mechanism, pointing up its place as the backbone of democracy and watchdog of the nation. They get the government of APC moved forward to hope, progress and greatness.
