Transformer” Stands Firm as Ejigbo Supporters Demand Zoning of E4 House Seat to Their LGA

The bid by Dr. Adewale Majeed Salami to represent Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore and Ejigbo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives gained fresh momentum on Wednesday, as hundreds of Accord Party faithful staged a peaceful solidarity rally at his residence.

Popularly known as “Transformer,” Salami told supporters he remains fully in the race for the Accord Party ticket in Osun State. The meeting was called to address rumors of an alleged imposition of another aspirant.

Dismissing the speculation, Salami said no individual or group could force him out of the contest. He described his ambition as a response to the people’s call for fairness, justice, and balanced representation across the E4 Federal Constituency.

According to him, the push for Ejigbo to produce the next member of the Green Chamber is a legitimate demand for equity among the four local governments, not an act of division. He urged supporters to remain calm and law-abiding despite rising tensions, and to focus on mobilizing for the Accord Party and Governor Ademola Adeleke ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election.

Salami expressed confidence in the party’s leadership at both state and constituency levels, saying he believes they will weigh Ejigbo’s concerns before finalizing the House of Representatives ticket. He stressed that justice and fairness would serve the best interest of peace and political stability in the constituency.

The gathering later evolved into a peaceful protest, with youths, women, and party leaders from all four LGAs marching in support. Demonstrators chanted for justice and openly backed zoning the ticket to Ejigbo.

Protesters warned that imposing a candidate against the people’s will could weaken party unity and harm Governor Adeleke’s prospects in the upcoming election. They argued that with Ede currently holding the governorship, it is only fair for Ejigbo to take the federal legislative seat.

Speakers also rejected what they called a “third-term agenda” within the constituency, saying it contradicts the spirit of inclusion and rotation that has helped maintain peace among the LGAs. Several women and youth leaders appealed to party elders to listen to grassroots voices, warning that sidelining Ejigbo could discourage loyal supporters.

Some protesters also cautioned against politicians invoking the Adeleke family name for personal gain, saying the family is respected for its commitment to fairness and should not be drawn into the House race controversy.

While reaffirming loyalty to Governor Adeleke, the supporters made clear that backing the administration does not mean accepting what they see as political injustice toward Ejigbo.

As election activities intensify, observers say the demand for zoning and equitable representation could play a decisive role in shaping the political direction of the E4 Federal Constituency. Party leaders are expected to step up consultations to prevent further divisions.

Salami closed by reaffirming his commitment to peaceful engagement and grassroots mobilization, pledging to pursue his aspiration with dignity and faith in the democratic process.
