Osun Government Raises Alarm Over Illegal Visits by Sacked APC Chairmen to Healthcare Centers

The Osun State Government has issued a public alert over unauthorized visits by sacked APC local government chairmen to primary healthcare centers across the state. According to the government, these visits are illegal, unlawful, and designed to intimidate healthcare workers and disrupt essential medical services.
The government has condemned these actions and warned healthcare staff to steer clear of these impostors. In a statement, Dr. Akindele Adekunle, Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Health, emphasized that no local government official has the authority to inspect or interfere with the operations of primary healthcare centers without express approval from the Primary Healthcare Board in Osogbo.

Reports indicate that one of the sacked chairmen, Mr. Lanre Balogun from Ilesa East Local Government, recently conducted an unauthorized "working visit" to several public health centers, including Okeoye PHC, Irojo PHC, Okesa PHC, Ilemo PHC, and Ijamo PHC. This has created an atmosphere of fear and insecurity within healthcare facilities, putting the lives of healthcare workers and patients at risk.

The government has described these visits as a blatant act of lawlessness and warned all primary healthcare workers to distance themselves from these unauthorized visitors. The government has also emphasized that it will not tolerate any attempt to destabilize the healthcare system for selfish political gains.

According to eyewitnesses, the sacked chairmen are moving around with armed thugs and dangerous weapons, creating an atmosphere of fear and insecurity within healthcare facilities. This reckless behavior is not only a threat to healthcare workers but also endangers the lives of vulnerable patients who depend on these centers for critical care.

The Osun State Government has advised all primary healthcare workers to refuse engagement with these illegal visitors and to report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities. The government has also called on security agencies to closely monitor the situation and take decisive action against anyone found violating public order.

The people of Osun are urged to remain vigilant and to hold these APC operatives accountable for any harm inflicted on healthcare workers or disruption of medical services. The government has emphasized that it will continue to provide an enabling environment for quality healthcare delivery, free from intimidation, violence, or political harassment.

The Osun State Government has reassured residents that the health and safety of medical personnel and patients remain its top priority. The government has also warned that any individual or group caught disrupting services will be dealt with according to the full weight of the law.

In a related development, the Court of Appeal recently reinstated the sacked local government chairmen and councillors in Osun State, overturning their earlier removal by Governor Ademola Adeleke. However, the Osun State Government has maintained that it will not recognize the sacked chairmen and councillors, insisting that their removal was lawful and in line with the provisions of the Nigerian Constitution.

The Osun State Government has called on the people of the state to remain calm and law-abiding, assuring them that it will continue to work tirelessly to protect their interests and ensure the provision of quality healthcare services.
