The Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has once again emphasized the importance of peaceful co-existence among the warring communities of Ifon,Ilobu and Erin Osun residents.
Governor Adeleke reenacted his appeal for the umpteenth times during the distribution of multi million naira food items like rice, beans, and gari to the residents of the three affected communities who are currently on a 24 hour imposition of curfew by the government as a result of the incessant crisis brewing up in the areas.
It will be recalled that Governor Adeleke had earlier visited these communities to assess the impact of the imposed curfew after which he promised that succour will come their way with the immediate distribution of food items to them by his administration.
The food items valued at several millions of naira was carried out on behalf of Osun State Govt. through the office of Osun State Emergency Management Agency (OSEMA).
Speaking at the event, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Emergency Management, Hon. Emiola Fakeye who was represented by the General Manager of OSEMA, Mr. Abiola Oni, conveyed the heartfelt condolences of the Governor, the government and good people of the state to the people affected in one way or the other over the unfortunate crisis.
Hon. Fakeye through Mr Oni urged the affected communities to embrace peace while emphasizing the Governor’s belief that development only thrives in an atmosphere of peace and stability.
In their separate votes of thanks, representatives of Ilobu community, High Chief Ashiru Jimoh who is the Bara of Ilobu,
Chief Salawu Moruf, the Sobaloju of Ifon Orolu Kingdom,
and Mr. Kayode Olawale, representing Erin Osun, expressed gratitude for the prompt intervention of the state government for the relief materials .
The distribution exercise was witnessed by security agencies, representatives of the Red Cross, and OSEMA staff.
