Dr. Salami Pledges Support for Boxing Development in Osun state
Dr. Adewale Majeed Salami, politically know as Transformer in a recent meeting with the state's sports development committee, expressed his unwavering commitment to fostering the development of boxing in Osun state.
Dr Salami who stated this while hosting the National Boxing committee maintained that his primary goal is to provide Nigerian youth the positive alternatives that will make them self-reliance.
The initiative is to engage young people constructively, diverting them from the lure of illicit activities and fostering a healthier and more productive society.
Addressing the Root Causes of Youth Involvement in criminality, the Ilawo born politician and business magnate said the alarming rise in youth involvement in frivolity as highlighted in numerous studies , underscores the urgent need for proactive measures to secure future for the leaders of tomorrow.
Dr. Salami recognizes that financial hardship and a lack of opportunities are key drivers of this phenomenon.
The true son of the source, Ilawo in Ejigbo local government of Ede North, South, Egbedore and Ejigbo federal constituency noted that by investing in sports development, particularly boxing, it will create avenues for economic empowerment and personal growth, thereby mitigating the underlying causes of restiveness among the youths.
Speaking on Multi-faceted approach to Combating Crime, a renowned philosophic Dr. Salami’s approach is not limited to domestic initiatives.
He also pledged to actively collaborate with global stakeholders to attract investment into sports sector in Osun state and Nigeria at large. Saying this international partnership strategy will facilitate the acquisition of resources, expertise, and infrastructure necessary to develop a robust and sustainable boxing program.
Alos speaking secretary general Nigeria boxing committee, comrade Tunde Popoola stressed that their aim is to create a network of support that goes beyond national borders, to leveraging international best practices and funding to combat crime in the society.
The secretary general who opined that Boxing is a Vehicle for Positive Change, with its emphasis on discipline, dedication, and perseverance, offers a unique pathway for personal transformation.
In his submission a major stakeholder in the sports sector, Hon Omole Yakubu Imadu, said the investment in sports will foster a sense of accomplishment and self-worth, effectively countering the negative influences that lead youth toward crime.
According to him investing in Youth is investing in the Future generation, the initiative spearheaded by Dr. Salami is not merely about boxing; it is about investing in the future of Nigerian youths, particularly Osun state and specially Ede south , Ede North,Egbedore and Ejigbo federal constituency.
The successful implementation of this program will undoubtedly demonstrate the transformative power of sports in combating crime and fostering a brighter future for young people.
