NHRC OSUN Advocates for Women’s Rights During Courtesy Visit to Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria President

As part of the ongoing activities commemorating the 2024 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, the Osun State Office of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) paid a courtesy visit to the President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Prophet Adelowokan, on Wednesday, 27 November 2024.

The visit aimed to engage religious leaders as key allies in the fight against gender-based violence and the promotion of women’s and girls’ rights. Speaking during the meeting, the Osun State Coordinator of the NHRC emphasized the pivotal role religious leaders play as trusted figures within their congregations. She urged the PFN President to encourage pastors and other religious leaders to advocate for women’s and girls’ rights, noting their significant influence as the first point of contact for families in their respective churches.

Prophet Adelowokan, while commending the NHRC’s efforts, pledged his support for the cause. He assured the team that the message would be conveyed to the PFN executive members, who would, in turn, sensitize pastors across the various denominations under the fellowship.
